Why this dimension exists
Answers are extracted as spans, not pages. A question-shaped heading followed by an immediate answer is the easiest thing for a retrieval system to lift intact.
Why it carries 10%
Substantial, and largely mechanical to fix.
The rules it is scored by
Each rule is a single question the scanner asks about a page. Passing one adds its share of this dimension; failing it takes that share away. Every rule links to what it looks for and what evidence passes it.
- At least 3 H2 or H3 headings either end with a question mark or begin with how, what, why, which, when, who, where, is, are, do, does, can, should or will.4.0%
- Parsed JSON-LD contains a FAQPage node. If instead the page uses <details>/<summary> markup without the schema, that is a partial pass.3.0%
- Of the first 30 heading-then-paragraph pairs (H2/H3 optionally followed by wrapper elements then a <p>), at least 60% have an opening paragraph of 80 words or fewer.3.0%
What this dimension cannot tell you
A single-URL scan reads one page. It cannot see the rest of the site, it cannot see how a model behaves over time, and it cannot see whether the page is actually cited for the queries that matter. Those are the parts of the picture a score of this kind is blind to, and they are listed in full on the methodology page rather than implied here.
